Security Officer (top-up)

The Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Top Up) has been developed to meet the training and licensing requirements of the SIA that regulates the sector under the terms of the Private Security Act 2001. Individuals working as security officers in the sector must renew their SIA licence every three years. One of the criteria for renewing the SIA licence is the achievement of this qualification.

The qualification consists of two mandatory units. This qualification will provide learners with an opportunity to:
• update their knowledge and skills required for the role of a security officer in the private security industry
• achieve a standalone qualification that enables them to continue to work as a security officer.

Please note to enrol on this course you must have completed a First Aid qualification with at least 12 months remaining. If you do not possess one, you can add the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work to your course and receive a discount if booking together.

I needed this qualification as I had previously completed the PTTLS course but needed the extra assessor’s element to allow me as a first aid instructor to assess and certify students.
