First Aid at Work

The 3-day First aid at work course is suitable for people aged 16+ who might need to provide first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

It is ideal for learners looking to undertake an SIA qualification.

It is also ideal for organisations whose first aid needs assessment has identified a requirement for someone to hold a current emergency first aid at work qualification.

This course gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace.

Emergency First Aid in the Workplace

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
Demonstrate adult CPR using a manikin
Demonstrate how to place a casualty into the recovery position
Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
Provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
Provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

Conduct a secondary survey
Provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
Recognise a suspected Fracture or dislocation, Sprain or strain
Provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
Administer first aid for a suspected head injury
Demonstrate how to administer first aid for a casualty with a suspected spinal injury Obs

I needed this qualification as I had previously completed the PTTLS course but needed the extra assessor’s element to allow me as a first aid instructor to assess and certify students.
