First Person on Scene (International)

The 4-day (3-day if blended) Level 3 Award For the First Person on Scene (International) course is suitable for people aged 18+ who might need to provide first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

It is is designed for Close Protection Operatives and those working in similar fields, within the UK and internationally.

This qualification develops the knowledge and skills required by those working in security services or high risk environments who are required to hold an advanced First Aid qualification.

The qualification ensures learners are able to provide suitable assistance for a range of medical conditions and trauma related injuries including developing an awareness of ballistic and blast injuries.

Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

What the course covers

Understand the role and responsibilities of the first person on scene
Understand the principles of scene management
Undertake basic casualty assessment and monitoring
Assess and manage a casualty who is unresponsive
Support a casualty with suitable airway management techniques
Perform basic life support procedures on a paediatric casualty
Recognise and manage a casualty with a minor injury
Manage a casualty who has a catastrophic bleed
Understand how a blast or ballistic injury may affect a casualty
Recognise and manage a casualty who is in shock
Recognise and manage common trauma related injuries
Recognise and manage a casualty experiencing an anaphylactic
reaction
Recognise and manage a casualty affected by heat or cold
Provide First Aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning

How the course is assessed

The course is assessed via completion of practical assessments and one multiple-choice exam.

I needed this qualification as I had previously completed the PTTLS course but needed the extra assessor’s element to allow me as a first aid instructor to assess and certify students.
